“Juventus have deposited the contract of Cannavaro that will be effective from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010,” a club statement reads.
It has been confirmed that Juventus have signed Azzurri skipper Fabio Cannavaro.
The 35-year-old left the Bianconeri to sign for Real Madrid after the Calciopoli scandal in 2006.
But Canna's contract at the Bernabeu expires this summer and he has been called back to Turin.
“Juventus have deposited the contract of Cannavaro that will be effective from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010,” a club statement reads.
The Neapolitan stopper won two Scudetti with Juve in 2004-05 and 2005-06 after signing from Inter in June 2004.
Cannavaro was a hero in the World Cup 2006 triumph and won the Ballon d'Or that year, but his performances have been questionable at times this season and his return has been opposed by angry fans who feel the centre-back deserted them three years ago.
“I am happy to return to Turin and to have the chance to wear the Juve shirt again,” Canna said yesterday.
“I'm disappointed that some fans have some bitter feelings after the glorious seasons we enjoyed together.
“However, I am convinced that I can win them over with professionalism and passion in this new adventure.”
